World Champion Solo Female Modern only assured after runoff dance

For the first time in a World Championship Jazz and Modern Dance, that took place in the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar, in the final no World Champion could be determined. In the category Solo female Juniors Kate Bonello (Canada) and Neja Horvat (Slovenia) had to dance again, fighting for the sought-after gold medal. In the end, Neja won the title with a four-to-three-decision by the judges. Chocolat Modern (ASV Wuppertal) made it to the final.

Presentation of the nations

Seven titles and 21 medals were awarded on the fourth day in Wetzlar. The arrangement was as follows: three gold medals for Canada (Jaydon Lau/Emma Pettigres – Duo Children Jazz/Money-Groups Children Jazz/Spetecular-Formation Children Jazz), two gold medals for Slovenia (Neja Horvat – Solo female Juniors-Modern/Michel Kany Obenga – Solo male Juniors) and one title each for Serbia (CDS 2016 – Groups Children Modern) and the Czech Republic (TS MIRAKL – Formation Children-Modern). In the end, also the German delegation could jubilate. The children formation “Chocolat Modern” finished 4th in the category Modern. In addition, Lisa Geis/Laura Posavec (JTC Großostheim) qualified for the final in the category Duo Junior, that will consist of five duos and will take place on Thursday.

Already on Tuesday the children were dancing their solo competitions in the categories Jazz and Modern. In both male sections Christian Weiß (1. Voerder TSC Rot-Weiß) danced into the final and there finished 6th (Modern) and 7th (Jazz).

The whole day the arena was full of an amazing atmosphere, in which the presentation of the nations is always one of the highlights.
