Four places in the WDSF Open Senior I Standard were vacant due to changes to other age groups of the couples. Four places for which 134 couples competed from 11.30. For the first time, Christian and Elena from Italy took the first place at the podium of the dC. From the first round on their performance was aimed to reach the final. The silver medal went to Bruno Petit/Estelle Rollin from France who also danced their first final in Wuppertal. The third and the fourth place went to two couples who have already danced in a final at the dC, but changed their places from last year: second in the world ranking list from Czech Republic Zdenek Pribyl/Lenka Pribylova were placed third, followed by the second couple from France, Pierre Payen/Isalle Reyjal. Two German couples could reach their goal of dancing the final: Andreas Lippok/Karin Eva Rode, a new couple to the Senior I were fith on their first attempt by being placed fourth in two dances, fifth in one dance and sixth in two dances, followed by the German champion Thorsten Zirm/Sonja Schwarz, who were placed fifth in the Slow Waltz and the Slow Foxtrot.
