The IDO World Championships in Jazz- and Modern Dance have begun in Mikolajki, Poland. Dancers from 24 Nations are meeting in Masuria in order to determine the titleholders from children to adults. The German team of TAF and Dancesport Germany with 147 dancers already celebrated the first medal and several final participations.

In the ballet-competition of adults small groups "Arabesque" from ASV Wuppertal, reduced in numbers, reached the bronze place together with a Canadian group. Originally the team from Wuppertal was going to start as a seven but a suitcase including costumes got lost during the flight and so only 6 dancers were able to beam with joy over the bronze cup. Gold went to Canada, silver to Serbia.

Just as remarkable was the decision of the children's soloists: seven boys from three nations danced for the medals. Leon Morosch from Bobstadt danced himself "into the middle" as he said himself and was pleased about place 4. He can rightly be very proud of his performance and reached the best-possible place in a very strong field.

In the modern formations children, both German teams qualified for the final of the best 6 directly from the preliminary round of 14 formations: "Coco" (TG Bobstadt) and "Little People" (TSG Bavaria Augsburg) will compete in the final on Wednesday.

Of the 3 German soloists in the juniors, 2 qualified from 54 starters to the next round in the modern competition. Only Lena Vierus (TSC Blau Gold Saarlouis) missed the quarter final tomorrow with the runner-up place (25.). Anna Grünwald und Nina Knan (both TSG Bavaria Augsburg) represent the black-red-golden colours in the next round.

Amongst the 33 Juniors-Small Groups Modern all 3 German teams survived the preliminary round. In the quarter-final "Hot Chocolate" (TV Großostheim) had to drop out with the runner-up place to the semi-final (shared 12th place)

"L'équipe" (TSC Blau Gold Saarlouis) and "Next Generation" (TSG Bavaria Augsburg) will compete in the semi-final of the best 11 teams tomorrow.

The interim results in the WC tournament of the children's jazz formations are just as successful: the 14 dancers of "Marsupilami" (1. Jazzdance Club Freiburg) danced to the final with 12 further groups.

For another final on Thursday a German participant is already qualified: after two rounds of the originally 21 children small groups modern, "New Elements" (TSG Bavaria Augsburg) are in the final of the best five. As third team the Bavarians are reaching for the medals. Late in the evening finally the preliminary round of the children's duos modern took place. Marie Ebert/Lea Panknin (TSV Kastell Dinslaken) and Angelina Coppola/Maya Simonov (TSG Bavaria Augsburg) showed a commanding performance. Both duos reached the next round of the best 14 .
