Good Results at the WDSF General Meeting in Bucharest
After six hours president Carlos Freitag finished the annual
general meeting of the World Dance Sport Federation WDSF thanking
Rumania for hosting the assembly. The representatives had their
meeting in the Rumanian parliament, 61 nations were present.
A longer period of discussion took the application of
changing the competition rules announced by the WDSF executive
committee. Some of the proposed changes were accepted. The
formulation, that trousers are not allowed for women in the future,
was also cancelled. So long trousers will be allowed in future as
long as the character of a dress remains (the exact phrase will be
published at the WDSF). This wish of the German female athletes was
put forward correspondingly by Heidi Estler.
The application of the managing committee of a waiting period
of twelve months for WDSF championships, Grand Slams and Games for
couples that have been dancing in another federation than the WDSF,
has been eased already previously in conversations with the
Americain, Canadian, Australian and Antipodean federation as well
as with some European federations, among them decisively the DTV.
Now it is up to every national federation if it wants to introduce
such waiting periods for its couples or not.
An important milestone for the future was set with the
adoption of the possibility to establish continental federations.
For a long time Franz Allert had already agitated for this in the
European Commission. The application that needed a two-thirds
majority was accepted with great majority. Now there are no more
obstacles to found an European federation. Therefore, a meeting is
planned at the German Open Championships in August in Stuttgart.
The reports of the members of the executive committee, the
budget for 2014 and the plan for 2015 were approved concordantly as
well as the formal approval of the actions of the executive
committee.
