Rudi Hubert died on 10. November at 87.
Born in Berlin, Hubert dedicated himself to dancesport as a volunteer on national and international level after a comparatively short period of active membership. He was elected to the DTV Presidium in 1961, firstly as a committee member and later as press commissioner. The former A-student in German early started writing for dancesport publications. He took over the editorial office of the "Tanzspiegel", DTV's magazine, in 1970 but handed over to Hans Reip after a few years. When Reip's successor Heinz Restorff passed away in 1986, Rudi Hubert was back to step into the breach - for a longer period as he might originally have planned. After a break from 1975 until 1982, Rudi Hubert had his come back to the DTV Presidium. At the same time he was General Secretary to the International dancesport federation (formerly ICAD) and IDSF General Secretary until 2000, having left the DTV Presidium and the "Tanzspiegel" in 1992. Hubert was awarded DTV honorary membership by the Association Convention after having been Vice President for many years.
Rudi Hubert has decisively influenced IDSF and the German Dancesport Association, and with his distinctive writing made the " Tanzspiegel" the mouthpiece of German dancesport.
