Three German couples were invited to the Grand Slam Final in Taipeh. In the Standard section (twelve couples) both DTV-couples reached the finals, with Benedetto Ferruggia/Claudia Köhler on rank two after Paulo Bosco/Silvia Pitton and Simone Segatori/Annette Sudol on rank six. In Latin (eleven couples) Jesper Birkehoj/Anna Kravchenko missed the final and went away with a shared rank seven. Additionally, two World Ranking Tournaments were carried out with 43 couples at the start in the Latin American dances (Birkehoj/Kravchenko on rank 3) and 53 couples in the Standard section (with Ferruggia/Köhler again on rank two behind Bosco/Pitton and Segatori/Sudol on rank four). As reported by the Sports Director, both German couples are not only well known but also quite popular in Asia. "The four of them are often in Asia, and among the 8,000 viewers in the Taipeh Arena there was quite a number of fans having posters with their names or photographs".
