Exciting Showdown in Ludwigsburg

„a breaking-off is not an option“

The showdown of the 1st National League Formation Latin took place in Ludwigsburg. It has been a while, since the season was so exiting, as only three of the eight positions in the ranking appeared to be set: In the lead, reigning German and World Champion, Grün-Gold-Club Bremen A, promoted TSK Buchholz on fifth and Ruhr-Casino Bochum on the last position.

Only the competition in Ludwigsburg would decide upon the remaining placings.

Everyone was surprised that during the course of the competition things can still change: the teams, the audience and the officials. During the small final everything was still ok, 1. TC Ludwigsburg enjoyed the advantage of dancing at home with its own supporting audience and danced in a wave of enthusiasm. A well deserved sixth place ensured that they can remain in the league. Therefore, TSC Walsrode and Ruhr-Casino Bochum will relegate.

The unexpected and definitely undesired showdown happened during the grand final: While during the performance of FG Aachen/Düsseldorf and TSK Buchholz everything still went smoothly, during the performance of FB Bochum/Velbert a power failure occurred. The dancers on the floor continued unflinchingly until compere and chairman of adjudicators Jörg Weindl discontinued. Apparently the emergency power generator started working in the mean time and after a short break, the FG could start again, strongly supported by the audience. The fourth team was Bremen B and again there were voltage fluctuations again in the power supply with severe consequences: two times consecutively the B-Team had to interrupt their performances. They were followed by Bremen A. During that performance there were no problems. Bremen B started again afterwards and finally they could dance until the end without any troubles.

‘A breaking-off of the competition is not an option’, said Vice National Sports Director Andreas Neuhaus who was contacted in the meantime and in the end after three unsuccessful ‘take-offs’, there was a happy ending and a result for the end of the season was gained.
